Wi-Fi and Location Analytics for mass celebrations: How do we apply our technology to provide the best experience?

We analyze how our Location & Presence Analytics solution and our advanced connectivity have improved the experience at mass events such as the Romería del Rocío, the Romería de la Virgen de la Cabeza, and the Feria de San Miguel de Las Rozas. Keep reading to learn about these success stories and discover how Galgus optimizes the management of large events!

Mass celebrations, such as pilgrimages and fairs, are events that bring thousands of people together in one place, posing a significant logistical and security challenge for organizers and authorities.

In this context, Galgus technology has established itself as an essential tool to improve attendee experience, optimize the management of crowd flow, enhance security, and provide high-quality connectivity.

Why Choose Galgus Technology for Managing Mass Events?

The implementation of Galgus solutions at these events has proven to be extremely beneficial in several key aspects:

1. Complete visibility

Organizers can monitor the flow of people in real-time and obtain precise data on attendance and attendee behavior. All this is achieved with market-leading precision thanks to artificial intelligence, which makes it possible to count both non-connected devices and those randomizing their MAC addresses.

This allows them to make informed decisions and react quickly to any eventuality.

2. Enhanced security

The ability to quickly detect and respond to risk situations is crucial for ensuring safety at mass events. Galgus technology enables constant surveillance and agile response, significantly enhancing public safety.

3. Optimization of crowd management

Location and behavior data of attendees help prevent overcrowding and better manage the movement of people.

This not only enhances safety but also contributes to a smoother and more enjoyable experience for attendees, reducing wait times and improving overall satisfaction.

4. Exceptional connectivity

At events with a high density of devices, maintaining a fast and seamless Wi-Fi connection is a challenge.

Galgus technology provides robust and reliable connectivity, ensuring that attendees can stay connected and share their experiences in real-time, which also contributes to the promotion of the event.

3 Major events where we have successfully applied our solutions

To demonstrate all these benefits, here is a summary of 3 success stories where we have participated with our technology.

Rocío Pilgrimage

The Romería del Rocío is one of the largest pilgrimages in Spain, gathering hundreds of thousands of pilgrims each year in the small village of El Rocío, in Huelva.

This religious and cultural event presents unique challenges due to the large influx of people and the need to efficiently manage the resources involved in security and emergency response.

We implemented a Location & Presence Analytics solution that allowed the organizers to monitor the flow of people in real-time within the village and at its main access points.

This technology provided valuable data on the behavior and movement of pilgrims and visitors. With this information, the organizers were able to:

  • Perform a detailed count of devices to identify the areas and times of highest and lowest attendance.
  • Analyze heat maps showing the density of devices in each area and at each moment.
  • Set up automatic capacity control and send alerts if maximum limits are exceeded.
  • Mark events to analyze people’s behavior at key moments of the celebration.
  • Analyze movement patterns to intelligently manage emergency and security services.

Pilgrimage of the Virgin of the Cabeza

The Romería de la Virgen de la Cabeza, held in Andújar, Jaén, is another large-scale religious event that gathers thousands of people. This annual celebration also presents logistical and security challenges that require advanced technological solutions.

To overcome these challenges, we deployed our advanced Wi-Fi and Location Analytics technology. This solution allowed us to:

  • Understand device and people densities, which we represented in heat maps.
  • Perform a real-time count of unique users in different areas.
  • Segment users based on their duration of stay, distinguishing between passersby, visitors, and long-term stays.
  • Identify the main movements that occurred, creating origin-destination matrices.

By doing so, we optimized decision-making for organizers and authorities, making it more accurate and reducing response times.

Festivities of San Miguel in Las Rozas

The San Miguel patron saint festivals in Las Rozas (Madrid) are a cultural event that attracts thousands of visitors each year to the fairgrounds where it is held and its surrounding areas, especially at night, as this is when events like concerts take place.

Next to the fairgrounds is the Dehesa de Navalcarbón, a protected green area. During the festivals, this area was closed off between 8:00 PM and 7:00 AM, prohibiting access.

The Local Police of Las Rozas tasked us, along with our partner SmartIT, with monitoring and alerting about the presence of people in this restricted area to proceed with their removal.

With our Location & Presence Analytics solution, we are able to provide:

  • Real-time detection and response to unauthorized presence in protected areas, significantly improving security.
  • Obtaining data on capacity and movement of people, allowing for better planning and management.
  • Optimizing the experience, reducing waiting times and queues and avoiding crowds.

In summary, the application of Galgus’ Wi-Fi and Location Analytics solutions in mass events has improved security and people flow management, as well as ensuring a superior connectivity experience for attendees.

Galgus’ ability to provide full visibility, enhance security, optimize flow management and offer exceptional connectivity makes its technology an indispensable tool for any large-scale event.
